6 vital rules for online business domain name - part 1 (of 3)
By Shlomo Freund

Choosing a good domain name for your business website is vital. You want your users to remember your domain name easly and find you easly. therefore, there are some considerations needed to be taken when choosing a domain name for your bisiness.

1. Your domain name should be your business name - it might even be too abvious. but sometimes you just cant do it. The reason is maybe someone already bought that domain name. what do you do then? you can try to buy that domain name from that person or company, assumining they are willing to sell it to you the price probably in not going to be the as low as a new domain name.discovering who is the owner of that domain is very easy. Check up the "whois" information for the cdomain you are interested in , at http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/index.jsp,for instance. Just type in the domain name you like and see who is the owner of that domain together with it's contact info.If the domain name is not available or just to expensive, consider changing your online business name if the business is not a phisical business already existed before the website was established.

2. choosing a Long or a Short Domain Names?

Domain names can be of any length up to 67 characters which is way too much...but longer names are easier to remember and if being practical about it, short names are much harder to get nowdays. On he other hand short names are are easier to remember, easier to type and far less susceptible to mistakes. But are they really easier to remember? if you can't get a decent chachey name such as buyit.com then go on the longer option. remembering tjacdf.com is much harder. Also longer domain names appear to get higher rank on search pages if their keywords are also in the domain name. For example,if i have a site for showing houses for sale , houseforsale.com would rank better than hforsale.com
